I spent a number of years taking photographs at night.
However, I haven't made much time for it in the past few years. And with changes in work and life, it's harder for me to regularly go out shooting until 3AM, waiting for people and cards to disappear off the streets and leave them to me, or waiting for sunrise.
Anyway, here are some links to some older photos and projects (links not all created quite yet)::
- Early Boston photos
- A 2002 show in Boston "In Different Light" -- has a few galleries of small photos
- 2003 Nocturnes group show in San Francisco
- 2004 group show at Farley's coffeehouse
- Exploring abandoned military barracks on Angel Island at night
- Esprit Park at night, 2005
- Bayshore area, 2005 (various sketchy interactions with people during this shooting but all ended well)
- Portland (Maine) at night, 2006 (a federal customs/homeland security officer and the Portland PD questioned me for these... "are you telling me you don't have anything better to do on the Sunday after thanksgiving than 'take photos' of a bridge, at night?" "why yes, officer...")
Below, one of the photos I'm more fond of. Click on it for a high-res version (scanned from 4x5 Velvia film to ?? Megapixels, fun...) (link not here yet)
